The social network belonging to the former US president was hacked before the official opening and fake accounts were created in his name.
Former US President Donald Trump’s social network was hacked before the official opening.
According to Newsweek, some cyberspace users entered the social network, created accounts with the names of Trump and his then-deputy Mike Pence, and made fun of them by uploading photos.
Before Trump’s social network was officially launched, these people were able to access it through a link and create a fake account in Trump’s own name, Newsweek wrote.
The social network is scheduled to be available to “special guests” next month and to all Americans in 2022.
“I created Truth and TMTG, the Trump Media and Technology Group, to stand up to the big technology tyranny,” Trump said Wednesday in a statement announcing he was launching the social network. We live in a world where the Taliban have a large presence on Twitter, but your favorite US president has been silenced this is unacceptable.”
Trump was largely banned from major social networks, including his favorite Facebook and Twitter, following the deadly attack on the US Congress on January 6. After leaving the White House, he ran a Twitter-like blog, but it was shut down a month after he took office.
