Representatives of the Justice and Development Party and nationalist representatives who make up the majority of the Turkish Parliament voted in favor of this law.
According to this law, any person who spreads false information about Turkey’s security in cyberspace and creates an atmosphere of terror and disrupts public order will face one to three years in prison.
Turkey’s Justice and Development Party has emphasized that with the help of this law, it is possible to deal with the spread of false information and false accusations on social media. After this law is approved, it will be sent to the president for final approval.
