Demonstrations against Macron’s government take place while tensions between European countries and Russia have intensified following Moscow’s military operations in Ukraine, and Western sanctions against Russia have had a negative impact on the lives of Europeans.
According to this report, the results of the latest Elabe Institute survey show that support for sanctions against Russia is decreasing among French people, and only 40% of French people wanted restrictive measures against Russia because of the Ukraine war, and 32% French people believe that sanctions against Russia should be limited in order to reduce its effects on the daily life of the people of this European country, and 27% of the respondents stated that they are against sanctions against Russia.
According to Sputnik, since 2021, energy prices in Europe have suddenly increased as part of the global trend, and after the start of Russian military operations in Ukraine in February 2022 and the approval of several European sanctions packages against Moscow, fuel prices increased at a very high speed. has gone and forced many European governments to take emergency measures.
In August, the French parliament approved two packages of emergency measures to protect people’s purchasing power, which took effect on September 1. These packages include the listing of social benefits, the stabilization of electricity and gas prices, an increase in overtime payments to civil servants, and a 30-euro cent discount on fuel from September to October.
Demonstrations against the French government have peaked while the French Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne recently warned the people that if they do not exercise restraint in energy consumption and behave “responsibly”, there is a possibility of electricity and gas cuts in this country.
