Thousands of British doctors are on strike.
Thousands of British doctors have started a strike for three days starting today Wednesday to protest their low salaries.
English doctors have been on strike for three days from Wednesday morning to Saturday morning in protest of their low salaries. The strike is expected to cause widespread disruptions in the healthcare sector of this country.
According to the “Guardian” newspaper, “Steven Powis”, the national medical director of the National Health Service of England, warned that this strike will have a widespread impact on the health and treatment sector in England and will lead to the cancellation of medical visits for a large number of patients.
In April, around 27,000 British doctors staged a four-day strike, which resulted in the cancellation of 196,000 outpatient appointments and surgeries. British protesting doctors demand a 35% salary increase and the real value of their salaries to reach the level of 2008 and 2009. British Health Minister Steve Barclay called this request unreasonable and opposed it.
The British Medical Association trade union is planning to hold a vote among its members next week on whether to continue the strike for six months. If this plan gets a positive vote, the British healthcare sector will probably be involved in a doctors’ strike until early 2024. Currently, this union has planned to hold three days of strike every month.
