Mahmoud al-Zahar, a member of the political bureau and a senior leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), strongly criticized the visit of Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to Bahrain.
“Lapid’s trip to Bahrain can be summed up in one word: betrayal,” Mahmoud al-Zahar told Al-Mayadin.
He added: “They have tied their aspirations to the US position and want to keep Washington satisfied.” The authorities of the compromising countries are punishing themselves.
Al-Zahar continued: “Biden can not achieve the security of Israel because for him the interest of the United States is before all interests. If American power had maintained it, it would not have fled Afghanistan.
The Hamas official stressed that the person who primarily benefits from the normalization of relations agreements is Israel.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced the opening of the Israeli embassy in Bahrain.
According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the Israeli embassy in Bahrain was officially inaugurated in the presence of Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid.
“The opening of the embassy shows the political cooperation between us and we agreed that the Bahraini embassy in Israel will be opened by the end of this year,” Lapid said during the opening of his regime’s embassy in Bahrain.
It is worth mentioning that the Zionist regime and the Al-Khalifa regime signed a compromise agreement last year.
Meanwhile, Bahrainis staged demonstrations in different parts of the country on Thursday. The demonstrations were held in protest of the visit of Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid to Manama.
According to the report, the participants in the demonstrations chanted slogans against the Zionist regime, condemning the regime’s crimes against the Palestinians. The demonstrators also demanded that the Al Khalifa regime reconsider its normalization agreement with the Zionists.
