The US military recruits people with mental disorders.
The Wall Street Journal wrote in a report that the US Army in June allowed the registration of volunteers with 38 medical problems and recruited 700 soldiers with behavioral disorders!
The US Army has conditioned the recruitment of these people to the absence of symptoms or necessary treatment in the three to seven years before enlistment, while previously, people with such medical problems were immediately disqualified from participating in training courses. They were forbidden. Among these problems, congenital heart problems and tuberculosis can be mentioned.
Christine Wormuth, the US Secretary of the Army, said in an interview with Wall Street that the order to which the said forces are recruited will evaluate the effectiveness of this program after a year.
Referring to the recruitment of volunteers with mental problems, he said: We must be cautious. I think we should constantly refresh our approach and look at the conditions of the society again.
Wormuth told CNBC in October that the U.S. military is currently increasingly recruiting unfit soldiers, with only 23 percent of young American volunteers meeting the standards of physical and mental fitness. Moreover, only 9 percent of these people between the ages of 16 and 21 are eager to join the military.
