The United States has stepped up intelligence cooperation with Ukraine.
Washington has stepped up intelligence cooperation with Ukraine to counter Russia, US media reported.
The director of the US National Intelligence Agency, an agency under the direct control of the president, briefed congressional lawmakers on strengthening US intelligence cooperation with Ukraine.
“While Ukraine is facing a renewed Russian military offensive in the east and south, the United States has lifted some restrictions on information sharing with Ukraine,” Bloomberg reported, citing two informed US sources.
According to Bloomberg, an informed source told the American media that “Aurel Heinz”, the director of the “National Intelligence” organization, told the Congress this month that the US intelligence cooperation with Ukraine has been increased and some restrictions have been lifted.
The lifting of some restrictions on intelligence sharing with Ukraine came in the wake of Mike Turner, a senior Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee, and Marco Rubio, a Republican deputy member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, sending separate letters to Joe. Biden was asked to lift the restrictions.
A source close to Bloomberg, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the media: “It’s from Russia.”
“The United States is actively exchanging timely information with the Ukrainians, including about Russian-controlled areas,” said a Bloomberg-based source who was an “intelligence official” who did not want to be named.
The news of the increase in US intelligence aid to Ukraine comes as Joe Biden’s government sent foreign and defense ministers to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on Sunday this week, as arms and financial aid to Ukraine continued to escalate.
