The United Nations is covering up the crimes of the Saudi coalition in Yemen.
In a letter to the UN Secretary-General, the head of the Yemeni Supreme Political Council denounced the organization’s role in Yemen as negative and in order to cover up the crimes of the Saudi coalition.
In a letter to the UN Secretary-General, the head of the Yemeni Supreme Political Council described Yemen as a leading country in joining the organization as responsible for maintaining international peace and security, Mehr news agency reported, quoting al-Masira.
Mehdi al-Mashat also stressed: “Unfortunately, the United Nations played a negative role in Yemen by providing a political cover for the crimes of the aggressors.”
He said: “We are surprised by the positions of the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who pursue the policy of one roof and two airs and acquit the criminal by accusing the victim.”
Al-Mashat added: “The recent statement by the Security Council, which was followed by coalition airstrikes on civilians and civilian facilities, is a clear indication of the council’s biased role.” The continuation of the UN biased policies undermines the role of this organization in the eyes of the nations of the world.
He continued: “The siege of Yemen shows the disregard of all international laws and regulations, which consider these acts as war crimes and punishment and mass genocide.” The non-renewal of the UN team of experts is another reason that proves the fact of continued bias against Yemen.
The head of the Yemeni Supreme Political Council also stressed the right of the Yemeni people to achieve independence and freedom, saying: “We think that the time has come for the United Nations to fulfill its role and take responsibility towards the Yemeni people.” We emphasize that the seat of the Republic of Yemen in the United Nations is still vacant and that whoever occupies it does not represent the Yemeni people.
Al-Mashat also called on the United Nations to stop violating the dignity and aspirations of the Yemeni people, as history will not forgive them for erroneous in recognizing an unrealistic legitimacy.
