According to Anatoly, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşolu said the UN was incapable of resolving problems, taking the lead on any issue and preventing conflicts.
He also said that UN structures such as the Security Council, veto power and voting should be changed.
“These things must change, otherwise the United Nations, like the United Nations, will slowly disappear,” Cavusoglu said.
The League of Nations, or Assembly of Nations, was an intergovernmental organization established on January 10, 1920, following the Paris Peace Conference. After World War II, the United Nations was created and replaced by the League of Nations.
Çavuşo .lu noted that many changes have taken place in the last few decades and that international institutions must keep pace with these changes.
“The world has changed,” he said. Turkey has also changed. We can not act as Turkey is today, 60 years ago.
“A fairer world is possible,” said Cavusoglu, referring to a recent book by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“We are in favor of effective cooperation and multilateralism,” he concluded. The global system has its shortcomings and mistakes. Hypocrisy is at its peak. These are the realities of the world. But we do not leave the international system because of these issues. On the contrary, we are working to strengthen and renew the international system.
The Turkish foreign minister’s remarks come as tensions and diplomatic lines between Ankara and Washington have risen over the issue of Russian arms purchases.
