The trade union to hold new strikes in Germany.
On the eve of holding a new round of negotiations with employers on wages, the “Verdi” union announced new strikes in the state of Bavaria.
German “Focus” magazine, the German Verdi union in the retail sector of the state of Bavaria has announced the “first major strike action” for next week. The union did not provide details for this strike on Monday. At the start of collective bargaining for the union’s 320,000 employees, employers had already proposed a five percent increase over a two-year period and a one-off payment of €1,000. But this union does not consider this proposal acceptable.
Collective negotiations are supposed to continue on May 13 in Munich. Verdi’s union rejected the proposal presented by the employers as shameless and cruel.
Strikes in protest of wages have been going on for a long time in different parts of Germany.
Last Thursday, strikes in the public transport sector in some German states led to disruptions.
On the first day of May, coinciding with the Labor Day protests, the German unions announced their determination to continue the pressure on the employers to claim their rights and, if necessary, to continue the strikes.
