The Swedish PM condemned the desecration of Holy Quran.
According to France 24, Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson strongly condemned the desecration of the holy book of Muslims in the country’s capital in a tweet and called it a “deeply rude” act.
Rasmus Paludan, the Danish-Swedish and anti-Islamist leader of the extremist party of Sweden, in continuation of his anti-Islamic actions and insulting the Muslim holy book, set fire to a copy of the Quran yesterday (Saturday) in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm.
Angered by the issuance of a license by the Swedish police to hold such protests, which had nothing to do with the concept of “freedom of expression”, Ankara canceled the visit of the Swedish defense minister to Turkey and summoned the Stockholm ambassador in Ankara.
In response to the desecration of the Quran, the Prime Minister of Sweden wrote in a tweet: Freedom of speech is an essential part of our democracy, but everything legal is not necessarily right. Burning a book that is considered sacred by many is a deeply rude act.
He added: I sympathize with all the Muslims who were offended by what happened in Stockholm.
Paludan’s action worsened the not so favorable relations between Stockholm and Ankara. Sweden urgently needs Turkey’s approval to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Stockholm’s bid to join NATO has stalled amid demands from Ankara to hand over Kurdish activists to Turkey and prevent demonstrations against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Stockholm.
The desecration of the Quran angered many Muslims around the world, and Morocco, in response to this action, announced that they were “surprised” that the Swedish authorities allowed such desecration to happen in front of the police!
Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, condemned this action.
Nasser Kanani, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, also responded to this heinous act and said: repeating the desecration of the holy book of one and a half billion Muslims is a clear example of spreading hatred and promoting violence against all Muslims, and such actions have nothing to do with freedom of speech and has no opinion
