The Baghdad Regional Summit “For Cooperation and Partnership” will be held today with the participation of officials from regional countries, including Iran.
According to Tasnim News Agency’s International Group, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian will head a delegation to the Baghdad meeting.
The leaders of some countries, including French President Emmanuel Macron and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Jordanian King Abdullah II, the Emir of Qatar and the Prime Minister of Kuwait will attend the Baghdad meeting.
On behalf of the UAE, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will attend the meeting.

According to these sources, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, has announced to the Iraqi government that he will attend the meeting.
Turkey has also officially announced that Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşo .lu will leave for Iraq today to attend a meeting in Baghdad’s neighborhood.
Kuwait has announced that Prime Minister Sabah Khalid Hamad al-Sabah will travel to Baghdad.
Saudi Arabia is sending Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud to Baghdad.
On the other hand, Nayef Fallah Mubarak Al-Hijraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, announced his presence at the Baghdad meeting.
An official source in the Arab League Secretariat also announced that Ahmed Abul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League, will attend the Baghdad meeting.
Objectives of the Baghdad Conference
The purpose of the meeting is to reduce tensions in the region and focus on efforts to fight terrorist groups.
Nizar al-Khairullah, chairman of the preparatory committee for the Baghdad Regional Conference and Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister, said the Baghdad conference pursues economic goals above all else and does not address disputes.
Meeting with foreign media officials who traveled to Baghdad to cover the conference, he said that the countries invited to the conference have good experience in the fields of economy, industry and investment, and that Iraq is seeking investment in agriculture and industry.
Khairullah added that Iraq has the greatest investment opportunities in the region, and that the participation of regional countries in the conference will strengthen economic partnerships with Iraq above all else, which is why the meeting has been called the “Baghdad Conference on Cooperation and Partnership”.
“This conference will not be held to discuss regional crises or to address regional issues, and he does not want to address disputes,” he said about whether the meeting will address regional differences and whether we will see reconciliation between some countries in the region.
He added that the conference seeks to find common ground and partnerships that will benefit the Iraqi people and help solve economic problems.
Khairullah said holding the conference in the run-up to Iraq’s parliamentary elections would have a positive impact on the country’s internal situation, adding that it was not possible to talk about its achievements before the conference.
