The Saudi opposition claimed the failed assassination of Muhammad bin Salman.
A Saudi opposition figure and former Saudi security adviser claimed on his Twitter page that he had assassinated the Saudi Crown Prince.
In a revelation, the man’s Twitter account announced an attempt to assassinate Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He claimed that after the failed assassination, the Saudi Crown Prince was immediately transferred to a safe place on the island of Jabal Hassan in the Red Sea and was under strict security measures until the investigation was completed.
The Saudi whistleblower, who called himself a former security adviser, also wrote that before the failed assassination, dozens of Saudi Interior Ministry officers had been arrested and sent to prison in a way that the media could not smell.
The Saudi Interior Ministry, which has been under the control of bin Salman’s cousin Muhammad bin Nayef for years, has witnessed widespread purges and arrests. Muhammad ibn Nayef himself was imprisoned on March 5, 2020, along with Ahmad ibn Abdul Aziz, bin Salman’s two main rivals.
Last August, the Saudi-leix website revealed that more than 200 Saudi Interior Ministry officers had been arrested for their loyalty to Mohammed bin Nayef.
In May, Saudi opposition news sources said that Saudi security forces had arrested dozens of supporters of former Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef who were active on social media.
Some users have claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt on Mohammed bin Salman, while last week the Economist reported on Mohammed bin Salman’s actions in Saudi Arabia and wrote that three groups in Saudi society are against him; Disgruntled princes, Salafi scholars and their supporters.
“Prince Mohammed knows what the royal family can do to him,” a former senior Saudi official told The Economist, referring to his nephew’s assassination of King Faisal in 1975.
