Earlier, a source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia confirmed the news published about the consultation between Riyadh and Damascus about the resumption of diplomatic relations.
The Saudi Al-Akhbariya network, citing an informed source in the country’s foreign ministry, reported that talks between Riyadh and Damascus regarding the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries are underway.
He added: The authorities of the two countries are consulting about the resumption of consular services.
Yesterday, Reuters quoted “informed sources” as saying that the governments of Syria and Saudi Arabia have recently agreed to reopen embassies in their capitals after cutting off diplomatic relations in 2011.
Also, not long ago, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan congratulated Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on the holy month of Ramadan in a telephone conversation and, referring to the positive achievements of the Beijing meeting, emphasized the upcoming meeting of the foreign ministers and the reopening of the embassies of the two countries.
