The possibility of declaring a lawsuit against Donald Trump in the case of the attack on the Congress.
A Republican member of the January 6th Investigative Committee announced the possibility of a “criminal referral” against former US President Donald Trump in connection with his role in the attack on Congress.
The January 6 committee of the US House of Representatives, which is responsible for the investigation into the attack of Donald Trump’s supporters on the Congress building after the 2020 presidential election, announced that it may file a “criminal referral” against the former president of this country.
Asked whether Trump should be prosecuted for his role in the attack, Iowa Rep. Liz Cheney told ABC News: “Ultimately, the Justice Department will make a decision. “I think we may have an opinion on this as a committee.”
He emphasized that this committee can criminalize Trump’s actions by summoning more witnesses.
He continued, “Look at it from this angle that a man in the stature of the president orders a mob that he knows are armed to attack the building where his deputy is there, and his life and the rest of the representatives are in danger, and he incites them; It’s very frightening and I think we will go as far as we can find findings for the American people.”
Asked if a “criminal referral” would be possible from the committee, Cheney said yes. These statements come after former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson appeared before Congress to testify.
Hutchinson told the congressional hearing that Trump was well aware that his supporters were heavily armed on the day of the January 6 attack on Congress. He was so determined to join his supporters at the Capitol that he angrily lashed out at the head of his security team after his driver refused to take him there.
Cheney has said before that the former US president is a domestic threat that Washington has never seen before.
Cheney, who is the daughter of Dick Cheney, the former vice president of the United States during the presidency of George W. Bush, told her colleagues in the Republican Party that it is impossible to be loyal to Trump and the American Constitution at the same time.
