The number of Sudanese refugees may reach one million.
According to Sputnik, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced that the number of people displaced during the ongoing conflict in Sudan may exceed one million.
The commissariat also announced that the number of Sudanese refugees may exceed and increase what was previously announced.
The current situation in Sudan has been aggravated due to the differences between the commander of the army, Abdul Fattah al-Barhan, and the head of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohammad Hamdan Daqlou (Hamidati), who is his deputy. According to the Ministry of Health of Sudan, more than 3,000 people have been killed and at least 6,000 injured in these conflicts.
According to published reports, at least 600,000 people have so far fled to Sudan’s neighboring countries, including South Sudan, Chad, Egypt, and Central Africa.
This is while the armed forces of Sudan have announced a ceasefire for the Eid al-Adha holiday. Mohammad Hamdan Daklou (Hamidati), the head of Sudan’s rapid support forces, has announced a unilateral ceasefire with the Sudanese army for the Eid al-Adha holiday. This three-day ceasefire will be effective from today, Tuesday.
The previous three-day ceasefire between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces officially ended last Wednesday. However, armed clashes between the two sides had resumed in the country’s capital since Tuesday. The conflicting parties in Sudan announced more than 10 ceasefires in the last two months, but none of them were fully implemented.
