The North Korean leader appeared in public after 35 days
After a 35-day absence, the North Korean leader appeared in public to see the progress of a major project in his father’s hometown.
North Korean media reported on Tuesday morning (Iranian time) that Kim had visited the northwestern city of Samjion near the border with China.
According to Yonhap News Agency, in his first public activity in more than a month, he oversaw the progress of a major development project underway in the city.
“During his visit to Samjion, Kim Jong Un was informed of the real status of the third phase project and the completion of the construction of Samjion City,” the official North Korean News Agency (KCNA) said.
According to Yonhap, this was Kim’s first public appearance since thirty-five days after his speech at a defense show on October 11.
Samjion is known as the birthplace of the late North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un’s father.
Last week, North Korean government media reported that North Korean military mechanized forces were conducting artillery fire drills as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
