The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine rejected Indonesia’s peace plan.
According to Sputnik, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine rejected the peace proposal presented by Indonesia.
Indonesia’s peace proposal includes holding referendums in Crimea and other newly annexed territories from Russia. The areas that Ukraine considers to be it’s own.
“We appreciate Indonesia’s interest in restoring peace in Ukraine … but there are no territories in the current conflict that require a referendum,” Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said.
Nikolenko also rejected proposals for a Korean-style ceasefire and a demilitarized zone between Russia and Ukraine monitored by UN peacekeepers.
The plan was presented by Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto during the Asia Defense Summit in Singapore, which was attended by the defense ministers of Ukraine and the United States. Bloomberg quoted Ukraine’s Alexei Reznikov as saying the proposal appeared to be a Russian plan, not an Indonesian one.
On the other hand, a senior official of the Ukrainian presidency shared the latest developments in the war with Russia with the US National Security Advisor.
Andriy Yermak, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, announced on Saturday that he had a telephone conversation with Jake Sullivan, the US National Security Advisor.
According to the announcement of the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, the two sides discussed the peace plan of Ukraine to resolve the conflict in this country.
Yermak wrote in his telegram: “We discussed Ukraine’s desire to implement [President] Volodymyr Zelensky’s peace plan as a basis for peace in Europe.”
This official of the Ukrainian government emphasized the importance of the participation of as many countries as possible in supporting this plan.
In November 2022, the President of Ukraine unveiled his peace plan consisting of 10 points. This plan includes issues related to mutual exchange of prisoners, and ensuring nuclear, food, and energy security. Zelensky’s peace plan also includes points regarding the withdrawal of all Russian forces from Ukraine and the restoration of Ukraine’s complete territorial integrity. Security guarantees for Ukraine and the creation of an international mechanism to compensate this country using Russian assets are among the other items mentioned in Zelensky’s peace plan.
