News sources said the resigned Yemeni government did not accept Sanaa’s conditions to show goodwill, adding the Yemeni army and popular committees had been able to take several strategic positions on the western and northwestern fronts of Ma’rib province.
According to a news agency, at the same time as the Riyadh-affiliated government in Yemen is trying to use the battles of Ma’rib province (east of Sanaa) as a bargaining chip on humanitarian issues or the same issue that the Sanaa negotiating team recently discussed in Muscat Emphasizing politico-military issues, the Yemeni army, and popular committees resumed their advance around the city of Ma’rib (the capital of Ma’rib province) and in the past few hours were able to take control of several strategic positions on the western and northwestern fronts of Ma’rib.
Explaining the progress, Al-Akhbar reported today (Tuesday) that the Yemeni army and popular committees have made new advances in the past 48 hours near the northwestern border of Ma’rib, drawing clashes near Ma’rib and, consequently, several strategic areas. On the western fronts, Marib has been ousted by the forces of ousted Yemeni President Abd al-Mansour Hadi and his affiliated militias and has taken control of the battlefield on several fronts.
Al-Akhbar also reported that yesterday’s clashes, in which the Saudi coalition air force also took part in 20 airstrikes, resulted in the Yemeni army and popular committees taking control of new positions on the Al-Kasara front, as well as taking control of strategic areas such as Tabab al-Fajwa. “Al-Haramlah” and “Al-Sitra” ended.
According to the report, the Yemeni army has made similar progress on the western front of the city of Ma’rib, controlling more than 70 percent of the Idat al-Ra’a area, as well as the Hama al-Zaab and al-Hama al-Hamra areas northwest of Ma’rib.
In parallel with these advances, clashes have intensified around al-Talaa al-Hamra, and in the south of al-Talaa, dozens of Mansour Hadi’s forces have been besieged by the Yemeni army and popular committees. Meanwhile, according to the report, clashes with a group of Salafi militias who had come to Ma’rib from Abyan province have intensified over the past two hours on the two fronts of Al-Balqin Al-Awsat and Al-Qabli in southwestern Ma’rib.
Al-Akhbar goes on to point out that the Sana’a forces have also made more progress on the Raghwan front, and at the same time, the intensity of the clashes on the Murad and Al-Alam fronts in the south and north of Ma’rib has decreased.
