The German Foreign Minister called the President of China a “dictator”!
According to Rashatudi, German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock warned about Russia’s victory in the war with Ukraine and the emboldening of people like Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling him a “dictator”!
In response to a question about his and Berlin’s opinion on how to end the military conflict between Moscow and Kyiv, Burbok claimed that the only result could be freedom and peace in Ukraine.
He continued: Because if Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, is to win this war, then what message will this victory bring to other dictators in the world? Dictators like “Xi”, the president of China? Therefore, Ukraine must win this war.
He also emphasized Germany’s commitment to supporting Kyiv “as long as it takes”.
Berbock is not the first senior Western political official to openly call the Chinese president a “dictator”. US President Joe Biden made a similar claim in June after a Chinese research balloon strayed into US airspace. Although Washington claimed that the balloon was a spy, Beijing strongly denied this and insisted that the research balloon was diverted due to “uncontrollable atmospheric” reasons.
At that time, Biden claimed that such an incident was embarrassing for dictators. When they don’t know what happened. That balloon was not supposed to go there!
Biden’s claim drew a sharp response from Beijing, with Chinese officials describing it as “extremely ridiculous and irresponsible.”
Berbock’s comments came after the German government published its first “China Strategy” in July; A strategy in which it is pointed out to change the approach towards Beijing. The document insists on ending Germany’s dependence on China in several “critical sectors”, including medicine, lithium batteries and materials used to make microchips.
While Berlin sees Beijing as Germany’s main partner in tackling climate change and sustainable development, Berlin has expressed concerns about what it calls China’s bold policies and attempts to change the “law-based international order”.
