The head of the Palestinian Authority met and talked with the Egyptian president during a trip to Cairo.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at Al-Ittihadiya Palace on Tuesday.
“Bassam Razi”, the spokesman of the Egyptian presidency, said that the latest developments in Palestine were reviewed in this meeting.
While welcoming Abbas and his accompanying delegation, Al-Sisi emphasized on the continuation of supporting the Palestinian cause and guaranteeing the fulfillment of the legitimate demands of the Palestinian nation based on the principle of a two-state solution and the formation of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
He called it necessary to intensify all efforts at the current stage in order to support the Palestinian position and maintain peace in the Gaza Strip.
According to the report of “Alyum al-Seviim” website, Abbas also appreciated Egypt’s efforts in supporting the Palestinian cause and praised Egypt’s historical role in this field to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
Al-Sisi also pointed to the distinct relations between Egypt and Palestine and emphasized his interest in continuous consultation and coordination with Abbas regarding the Palestinian situation.
The two sides also agreed on the continuation of consultations and bilateral or tripartite coordination between Egypt, Jordan and Palestine in order to pursue future plans and efforts related to supporting the Palestinian cause.
