The cost of the Gaza war for Israel; Why do friend and foe consider Hamas as the winner of the war?
Hamas homemade rockets passed through Israel’s so-called “Iron Dome” system; What happens when the Gaza Strip is equipped with more advanced missiles?
The recent Israeli war against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, although ostensibly a ceasefire, was described not only by the resistance media but also by many Western media hostile to the resistance as a result of Hamas’ victory.
Even the Zionist regime’s own media acknowledged that Israel had surrendered to Hamas in the recent war. But what is the reason for these descriptions? Why, despite the martyrdom of more than 200 Palestinians in the recent Zionist aggression on Gaza (despite the small number of Zionist casualties), are Hamas and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip the victors of the war?
The Russian newspaper New Eastern Outlook answers the same questions in a report entitled “The Cost of the War Between Israel and the Gaza Strip.” From the financial costs to proving the ineffectiveness of the Zionist regime’s “Iron Dome” defense, and from Hamas military advances to increasing international support for the Palestinian cause, the recent war has changed many of the equations of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict forever. What follows is a translation of the New Eastern Outlook report.
At 2:20 a.m. on May 21, 2021, a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas. Al-Aqsa TV [the official Hamas television channel] announced the beginning of the celebration in the Gaza Strip on the occasion of “Hamas’ victory” in the war that night. The Palestinian group called the war the “Sword of Jerusalem.” Hundreds of people took to the streets of Ramallah with Palestinian national flags to celebrate the end of the mortar shelling. This time, instead of rockets, fireflies were sent into the sky.
Clashes between the two sides began on May 10, and reciprocal rocket attacks between Israel and Hamas continued for 11 days. The Israeli military says in a press release that it has attacked 1,500 targets since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Ministry of Health says more than 220 people have been killed and more than 1,500 injured in the Gaza Strip during the war with Israel. Although the Israeli side claims that its attacks were carried out exclusively against Hamas-linked targets, Gaza officials say that all those killed are civilians in the area.
Details published in the American media show that Washington was fully aware of Israel’s preparations for the war, as Tel Aviv had ordered a high-precision shipment of guided ammunition from the United States before the start of the war. The US Congress also took part in this important deal and the delivery of ammunition to Israel on May 5, before the war. In the days leading up to the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, the Biden government approved a $ 735 million arms sale to Tel Aviv; Weapons, most of which were guided munitions and the equipment needed to convert conventional bombs into smart bombs.
All of this reflects the fact that Israel’s plan to escalate tensions in the Middle East has been implemented with the consent of the United States. Although Washington initially condemned Israeli aggression abroad, it later reiterated its support for the bombing of the Gaza Strip.
