The American judge’s request to the Biden government about Bin Salman’s judicial immunity.
An American judge asked the government of this country to express its opinion about the status of the judicial immunity of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
An American judge requested the government of this country to comment on the status of judicial immunity of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to the “Guardian” newspaper, this American judge asked the “Joe Biden” administration whether independent immunity should be issued for the complaint filed by Jamal Khashoggi’s fiancée against Bin Salman.
This judge has given the American government until August 1 this year to announce whether or not it has a position in this regard.
Guardian wrote, the government’s decision in this regard can have a tremendous effect on this civil case. On the other hand, Biden is under pressure for his campaign promise to isolate Saudi Arabia.
Khadija Cengiz, Khashoggi’s fiancée, who was brutally murdered in the Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey, filed a lawsuit in 2020 in the Washington DC court.
In this complaint, it is stated that the Saudi authorities killed Khashoggi with “conspiracy and prior planning”. Khashoggi was one of Bin Salman’s critics and had immigrated to America from Saudi Arabia years ago.
The request of this American judge from the Biden administration was made while the American president will visit Saudi Arabia this month for the first time since entering the White House.
Earlier, Agnes Callamard, director of Amnesty International, said that it is “ridiculous” that Bin Salman enjoys special judicial immunity for heads of state in a country that has announced that he most likely ordered the murder of Khashoggi.
