According to Iraqi media, the Iraqi security media team announced that the Iraqi security forces had succeeded in thwarting a terrorist plot under which two power transmission towers in Anbar province were to be destroyed.
Earlier, the Iraqi Security Information Center reported the arrest of a Takfiri terrorist known as the “Mufti of ISIS” in the western province of Anbar.
According to the report, the terrorist was previously the mufti of ISIL elements, and several of his children were killed in battles to liberate cities occupied by Iraqi security forces.
“Iraqi forces were able to arrest the ISIS terrorist in the village of Nazwa in the al-Romana area of al-Qaim in Anbar province,” the Iraqi Security Information Center stressed.
Ali al-Waili, an Iraqi security expert, had previously warned of the weaknesses that terrorists are using to target infrastructure in some Iraqi provinces.
“Despite the military operation, some areas are still the focus of ISIS terrorists, including in Diyala and some areas in Salah al-Din, Kirkuk, Ninawa and Anbar,” he said. “Security forces have achieved a lot against terrorists.”
Al-Waili added, “These actions have weakened the terrorists militarily, and that is why they have resorted to methods of murder and crime and sabotage.” Especially since some centers are not under security protection. Infrastructure in all provinces, especially the previously mentioned provinces, is subject to sabotage, especially power towers and water resources, which can be poisoned at any time. “The health sector is also exposed to acts of sabotage and terrorism.”
