Senior members of the Taliban announced that a delegation from the group had arrived in the province to meet with Ahmad Massoud and resolve the Panjshir issue peacefully.
According to the regional office of Tasnim news agency, after the Taliban insisted on a peaceful solution to the issue, a delegation of Taliban left for the province to meet with “Ahmad Massoud”, the commander of the local resistance forces against the Taliban.
Anamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban Cultural Commission, said the delegation would be sent to Panjshir to meet with Ahmad Massoud and other people involved in the Panjshir case, and that efforts were being made to resolve the disputed region issue peacefully.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that an eight-member delegation from the Panjshir People’s Resistance Forces is preparing to meet with the Taliban.
Ahmad Massoud has previously stressed that he wants to form an inclusive government that includes all ethnic groups in Afghanistan and will resist if the Taliban attack to occupy Panjshir.
