A spokesman for the Taliban’s political bureau stressed the absence of al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, saying the group would not allow anyone to use Afghan territory against other countries.
According to the regional office of Tasnim news agency, “Mohammad Naeem”, the spokesman of the Taliban political office, said that al-Qaeda is not present in Afghanistan and there is no connection between this organization and the Taliban.
Naeem, however, told Saudi television channel Al-Hadath that there may be “family ties” between some members of the Taliban and al-Qaeda.
Asked about the possibility of the Taliban protecting and sheltering al-Qaeda fighters, he said: “How many times do I have to say that we will not allow anyone to use Afghan territory against the security of other countries?”
A spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Qatar had previously stated that the group wanted good relations with all countries and was working to develop them.
Referring to al-Qaeda and ISIS in Afghanistan, he said that these groups are not present in this country.
Naeem also noted that the Taliban wants good relations with all countries and will expand these relations based on religion, its national interests.
A spokesman for the Taliban’s political bureau added that just as we do not allow others to interfere in the affairs of Afghanistan, we do not interfere in the affairs of other countries.
