Taiwan: China’s threats challenge the world order.
Taiwan’s foreign ministry described China’s drills near the island as provocative actions that threaten international order.
Despite China’s insistence that Taiwan is a part of its territory, the island’s officials accused Beijing of threatening the world order while hosting Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House of Representatives.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed today (Wednesday) that China’s warning that planes do not enter the areas covered by military exercises in the waters near the island is a provocative act.
According to the Reuters news agency, the Ministry’s statement said that such actions challenge the international order and force Taiwan to communicate with countries including the United States to prevent the escalation of tensions.
Taipei’s Ministry of Defense also said in a statement that China’s military exercises around Taiwan show that Beijing seeks to solve this problem by force, not peace.
“The People’s Republic of China’s military’s announcement of direct-fire air and naval exercises around Taiwan is clear evidence that they are seeking to resolve the issue in the (Taiwan) Strait by force, not by peaceful means,” the statement said.
According to the “Ryannews” website, the ministry also emphasized that it is closely monitoring China’s activities around Taiwan and will take appropriate retaliatory measures if necessary.
Pelosi’s plane landed in Taiwan on Tuesday evening, Tehran time, and Taiwanese officials gave Pelosi a warm welcome. Upon arriving in Taiwan, Nancy Pelosi tweeted: “Traveling to Taiwan demonstrates my commitment to a vibrant democracy.”
Meanwhile, Zhang Jun, China’s representative at the United Nations, stated that the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives to Taiwan
