Syria appointed its representative in the Arab League.
According to al-Mayadeen, “Hossam al-Din Ala”, who was chosen by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as the country’s deputy foreign minister for European affairs and international institutions, has now been chosen as the new representative of Damascus in the Arab League. .
Ala previously also worked as the ambassador of Syria in Spain. After that, he worked as a diplomat in his country’s delegation to the United Nations. Alla previously also worked as the director of the office of Faisal al-Maqdad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria. Ala has also worked as Syria’s ambassador to the Vatican for several years.
Syria regained its seat in the Arab League in May with the agreement of the foreign ministers of the member states of the League in an extraordinary meeting convened to consider the issue.
In this meeting, most of the Arab countries agreed with the return of Syria to the Arab League. It was after that that Syria participated in the meeting of the heads of Arab countries on May 19 in Saudi Arabia.
This is the first time after 11 years that Syria appoints its representative in the Arab League so before this, Youssef Ahmed was working as the representative of Damascus in the Arab League before the suspension of this country’s membership.
Syrian media also reported that a delegation from Syria is traveling to Saudi Arabia to investigate the reopening of the country’s embassy in Saudi Arabia.
Recently, a Saudi technical team traveled to Syria and met with the authorities of this country to reopen Riyadh’s embassy in Damascus.
