Sheikh Al-Azhar: Western civilization plays the biggest role in contemporary human suffering.
According to Al-Mayadin, the Grand Mufti of Al-Azhar, Sheikh “Ahmad Al-Tayeb” received the Deputy Secretary General and High Representative of the United Nations for the Dialogue of Civilizations, “Miguel Moratinos” in Cairo today and consulted with him on ways to strengthen joint cooperation.
In his meeting with Moratinos, Sheikh Al-Azhar emphasized Al-Azhar’s welcome to dialogue with all believers of different religions, cultures and civilizations.
Ahmad Al Tayeb noted: The world is currently facing a very complex crisis, which is the crisis of removing religious and moral values from people’s lives. The consequences of this crisis do not only affect its creators, but include all humanity, both East and West. This crisis is the basis of all the conflicts and wars that our world is facing today.
He clarified: Western civilization has the biggest contribution to the tragedy of contemporary man, because it aims to eliminate religion and remove it from people’s lives, and it is focused on satisfying human desires and promoting materialistic thinking.
Sheikh Al-Azhar also talked about the pains and sufferings of people today, from the lack of food and medicine and the climate change crisis to the social crises that aim to destroy the family, spread extramarital relationships, and impose unusual cultures on the world and societies that do not believe in it. did
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb said: Today, a part of the world is colonizing another part in a stronger and more dangerous way than the colonial forms of the past.
The High Representative of the United Nations also appreciated Sheikh Al-Azhar’s efforts to spread the values of brotherhood and world peace and emphasized that he is proud of the relationship between the United Nations and Al-Azhar.
