Senior intelligence officials of Turkey and Syria meeting with the mediation of Al-Kazemi.
According to Al-Khaleej Al-Jadeed, informed sources said that senior Turkish and Syrian intelligence officials will soon meet in Baghdad to mediate between Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to resolve the dispute.
The sources said: “Hakan Fidan”, the head of the Turkish intelligence service, will head the delegation and “Ali Mamluk”, the head of the Syrian National Security Service, will head the Syrian delegation.
Al-Kadhimi has known and been associated with Fidan and Mamluk since he became head of Iraq’s intelligence service, and has used his influence to arrange the meeting, the second of its kind, It is believed that the two had previously met in Moscow in December with the mediation of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Intelligence Online continued: “After the Baghdad conference, the meeting between Fidan and Mamluk can improve Al-Kazemi’s position as regional mediator. The Iraqi Prime Minister has a team of military, intelligence and diplomatic officials who are working on all the details of the meeting between Mamluk and Fidan.”
According to the French magazine, the two sides will discuss the dispute between the two sides, including the refugee crisis, the situation in Idlib and the situation of the Kurds in northern Syria.
Meanwhile, some observers, including Ismail Haghi, the former head of Turkey’s military intelligence service, believe the meeting will serve as a prelude to establishing formal relations between Ankara and Damascus.
