Senate Democrats discuss Biden’s sharp decline in popularity during crisis session.
Democrat senators, concerned about the consequences of Biden’s decline in control of the party in Congress, assessed his situation in a crisis meeting with experts.
Senate Democrats are increasingly concerned that Biden’s declining popularity in opinion polls could threaten the party’s control of Congress.
According to the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, Biden’s popularity in the Quinnipiac University poll last week was only 36%, which still indicates a decline in satisfaction with his performance.
The Democrats lost the race for governor of Virginia but were able to stay in New Jersey, and have finally made gains in recent weeks with Biden signing a bipartisan infrastructure bill.
With that in mind, Senate Democrats met last week with opinion polls and advisers to assess the situation. Among those present was Anita Dunn, Biden’s former senior adviser at the White House.
A source told Hill that the level of concern of opinion polling experts at the meeting was very high. However, pollster Joel Bennson told Bloomberg that Biden had plenty of time to improve. Democrats hope the situation will improve with the passage of the Infrastructure Bill.
According to the Daily Mail, Democrats are also angry about Biden’s handling of Afghanistan’s exit and rising inflation.
