Saudi Foreign Minister: Israel has helped stabilize the region.
Hebrew-language sources reported that the Saudi foreign minister had said in an unprecedented statement that Israel had helped stabilize the region.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan has praised the Zionist regime after meeting with his US counterpart Anthony Blinken, according to the International Group of News News.
“We do not see such statements every day in the approval of Israel by a Saudi official, as we saw today in Washington,” the Hebrew-language newspaper Israel Hume reported Friday evening, citing remarks by the Saudi foreign minister.
Asked whether Riyadh would normalize relations with Tel Aviv, Faisal bin Farhan said a day after meeting with the US Secretary of State: “Israel is stabilizing the region and moving towards “Peace in the region has helped.”
However, the Saudi foreign minister goes on to say that Saudi Arabia is convinced that the only way to achieve full stability is to resolve the Palestinian issue.
According to the report, bin Farhan also added that the state of Palestine should be formed with the capital of Jerusalem and this country should have sovereignty.
The report was published while Faisal bin Farhan had previously said in an interview with the American network “Cyanan” in response to a question about the possibility of normalization of relations between Riyadh and Tel Aviv: “I do not know whether this is imminent or not “Progress depends on the peace process.”
The Saudi foreign minister also stated: “Therefore, the option of normalizing relations is definitely on the table, although it has been known as the Arab peace plan since 2002.”
The Arab Peace Plan, approved by all member states at the Arab Summit in Beirut, Lebanon, in March 2002, includes provisions that prevent normalization of relations with the Zionist regime until Tel Aviv commits itself to restoring Palestinian rights under international resolutions. And did not withdraw from the territory of the Arab countries it occupied in 1967.
