Saudi Crown Prince’s trip to Qatar.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, as the third destination of his regional trips.
He has previously traveled to Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
This is bin Salman’s first visit to Qatar since the crisis between the four Arab countries and Qatar in 2017.
In 2017, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE accused Qatar of supporting terrorism and severed ties. During this period, four countries also imposed sanctions on Qatar and closed their skies and borders to it.
Last year, under pressure from Trump in the run-up to the presidential election, these countries were forced to normalize relations with Doha and put aside hostilities, which was implemented at a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the Saudi city of Al-Ala.
Diplomatic sources in Riyadh have previously announced that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will begin an unannounced period of travel to GCC member states on Monday aimed at resolving geopolitical disputes and boosting co-operation.
In an interview with the official German news agency, a diplomatic source in the Persian Gulf states said: “One of the most important issues on the Saudi Crown Prince’s agenda is his travels to the GCC countries and meeting with his counterparts, which can lead to regional and international security and stability. Emphasis on the principles of good neighborliness, the need to respect resolutions and international legitimacy, the need to distance the region from any destabilizing action and create a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, developments in Iraq in the shadow of the recent parliamentary elections, developments in Syria, “He mentioned Libya and Palestine.”
It is noteworthy that bin Salman’s periodic visit to the Persian Gulf countries will take place before the 42nd round of the Gulf Summit, which is scheduled to be held on December 14 in Riyadh.
