Saudi Arabia’s new attempt to get out of the swamp of the Yemeni war
Saudi Arabia’s deputy defense minister met with the US special envoy for Yemen to try to get out of the quagmire of the Yemeni war.
“Khalid bin Salman”, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday (yesterday) hosted the “Team Lindkerking” sent by the US to Yemen.
“He met with the US Special Envoy for Yemen, Linder King, to discuss the latest developments in Yemen and joint efforts to support the Saudi initiative,” Bin Salman wrote on Twitter.
He added that the meeting reviewed the UN efforts to find a political solution to achieve security and stability in Yemen and maintain security in the region.
Last March, six years after the Saudi-led Arab coalition invaded Yemen, Saudi Arabia launched an initiative to establish a ceasefire in Yemen and pave the way for talks aimed at finding a political solution to the war in the country.
Saudi Arabia, which’s attempted ousting of ousted Yemeni President Abd al-Mansour Hadi on April 26, 2015,’s military aggression and siege by land, air and sea, has come to power now, six years later, despite costs. The heavy fighting and the loss of life of the coalition forces are trying to establish a ceasefire in Yemen.
The military aggression did not achieve any of the goals of the Saudi coalition and was only accompanied by the killing and wounding of tens of thousands of Yemenis, the displacement of millions, the destruction of the country’s infrastructure and the spread of famine and infectious diseases.
