Saudi appreciates US support over Yemeni attacks.
The Saudi cabinet has acknowledged US support for Riyadh to defend its territory and its citizens, as well as to meet its defense needs.
The Saudi cabinet met at the Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Tuesday afternoon, chaired by Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Saudi government delegation appreciated the US support for Saudi Arabia to defend its territory and its citizens, as well as to meet its defense needs, the official Saudi news agency WASS reported.
The delegation also claimed that Saudi Arabia wants to eliminate tensions in the region and supports the US government’s efforts to “prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and the need for a joint effort to counter the activities of its allied forces.”
Saudi Arabia is making this accusation against Tehran, which since April 2015, has formed a coalition with the United Arab Emirates and Arab countries with the support of the United States and has killed the Yemeni people. Several thousand Yemenis have been killed as a result of these crimes.
Saudi Information Minister Majid bin Abdullah al-Qasbi also announced that the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the region and condemned the punitive attacks by Yemeni forces. Al-Qasbi claimed that the attacks targeted civilians, passengers and staff at Abha International Airport, without giving a reason for Yemen’s response.
He also claimed that the attacks were a violation of international law and a “war crime” committed by Ansarullah forces. The Saudi minister again accused Tehran, saying that Ansarullah “continues to be hostile and refuses to accept peace demands.”
