Sanaa fighters approached the Marb oil and gas fields by capturing the Umm al-Rish barracks.
Yemeni army forces and popular committees were able to approach the Marb oil and gas fields after capturing the Umm al-Rish barracks after a fierce battle with Saudi coalition mercenaries.
Yemeni media reported that Yemeni army forces and popular committees took control of the Umm Rish barracks near one of the entrances to the city of Marb after fierce clashes with forces of the resigned Yemeni government, which is a significant advance in the battle.
Military sources say that Yemeni army forces and popular committees launched heavy attacks on the Umm Rish barracks, the headquarters of the 117th Infantry Unit, north of the Curse Front in the city of Al-Juba, which resulted in the withdrawal of Yemeni government forces from the barracks. These forces are in the south of Marb province, they were able to take control of the barracks.
Some sources stressed that the withdrawal of Saudi mercenaries and tribes from the Umm Rish barracks was due to the fact that Yemeni army forces and popular committees targeted it with ballistic and thermal missiles and heavy artillery, in addition to military aid and supplies reaching the barracks. It was difficult to reach the barracks due to its visibility.
The fall of Umm Rish means the advance of Yemeni army forces and popular committees to dominate the desert region, which extends to the Safar region, where the oil and gas fields of Marb province are located, the sources said.
Meanwhile, according to these sources, fierce clashes between the two sides continue in several battle positions in the heights overlooking Al-Khasheina garrison without any field progress for either side.
Political writer Yaqub al-Atwani told the Turkish Anatolian News Agency that the army and popular committees, despite the casualties in the battle, had been able to seize larger areas of Marb, due in part to superior weapons and cohesion among its forces.
He added: “But Saudi Arabia, which has refused to send troops and equipment to help the army of the resigned Yemeni government and has only used its air force, has not been able to repel the attacks of Sanaa forces.”
The analyst says that although the Houthis have not yet completely surrounded Marb; But there is a possibility of the city falling.
