Sanaa complains about the delay of the Saudi coalition in the prisoner exchange case.
The head of the Committee for Prisoner Affairs in the Yemeni National Salvation Government said that the exchange of prisoners was very slow due to the delay of the other side.
The head of the Prisoners of War Committee in the Yemeni National Salvation Government said that although Sanaa has taken many steps to resolve the humanitarian issue of the prisoner exchange, negotiations with the United Nations on the exchange of prisoners are progressing very slowly.
“After Saudi Arabia presented its claim for the release of some of our prisoners, the Red Cross announced that it had met with the detainees and that they were of different nationalities,” he told Al-Masira. We could not welcome these detainees in Saudi prisons because they are unknown to us and from different countries.
Al-Murtada continued that the reason for the delay in implementing the UN-sponsored prisoner exchange agreement was the “mercenaries’ delay” of the aggressor coalition in submitting the list of prisoners. He added: “We hope that the United Nations will put pressure on these mercenaries to provide the mentioned lists in order to make progress in the case of the prisoners.”
Al-Murtada stressed: “We tried to use firearms to advance the prisoners’ case, but unfortunately this has not happened in a tangible way so far.”
The UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced on April 4 that a two-month ceasefire had been reached between the two sides in Yemen and called for an end to all military operations. The Sanaa airport was scheduled to reopen under the fire, but Saudi coalition forces are blocking flights.
