Russia’s reaction to possible European sanctions against Iran.
In response to the threats of the European Union to impose sanctions on Tehran on the pretext of the war in Ukraine, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry said that they went to Iran to divert attention from the sabotage in the Nord Stream.
The threatening statements of “Joseph Borrell” in charge of the foreign policy of the European Union regarding the imposition of sanctions against Iran on the pretext of the alleged export of drones to Russia, were accompanied by Moscow’s reaction.
“Maria Zakharova”, the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, on Monday evening, in response to Borrell’s statements, analyzed that he made these claims to divert attention from the vandalism of the Nord Stream gas transmission pipeline.
According to “Ryanovsti” website, Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel: “Has Borrell handled the Nord Stream explosions?” Apparently, the strong desire of the European Union to conduct an investigation in this field has completely disappeared after Washington’s statements about the US interest in stopping the supply of gas to Europe through these pipelines. They decided to suddenly go to Iran [to divert attention].”
On Monday, in a conversation with reporters before entering the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of European Union countries, Burrell claimed that a number of European countries are demanding sanctions against Iran due to the export of military drones to Russia.
The Europeans’ claim about Iran sending suicide drones to Russia comes at a time when today the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Kanani, stated that Tehran has repeatedly declared that it is not a party to the war between Russia and Ukraine, and emphasized: “Iran does not send any weapons.” He has not declared war on any of the parties.
