In response to the US claim that it was “supporting an international order that has brought about world peace,” a Russian senator and parliamentary official said that Washington’s rules had been the cause of many international conflicts and wars and were now disappearing.
Alexei Pushkov, a senior member of the Information Policy Committee of the Russian Federation Council (Senate), and commented on the US claim that the United States supports the “international order” that has been in place for more than 70 years to maintain world peace. It has helped, but Russia and China oppose it. Such an issue was raised during US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s visit to Europe and his talks with Brussels officials.
Reacting to the remarks, Russian Senator Pushkov stressed in a message on his Telegram page: “The rules-based world” theory, which the United States and its allies in Europe insist on, is inconsistent with the UN Charter and international law. These are the rules that Washington officials want, and it is the only ideological pretext that allows Western countries to claim world domination. “This theory does not guarantee international peace and is nothing but a lie.”
According to the Russian senator, it is precisely the implementation of such a world order that has so far created global conflicts and regional wars, the most important of which is the emergence of the terrorist group ISIS. “The reality is that the Western world-favorite order has already been destroyed and, in fact, is disappearing,” Pushkov added.
Earlier, EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell said in a meeting with the foreign ministers of Russia and China that he had advised them not to unite against the “Western world”. It is not in the interest of strengthening global security.
