Russia’s ambassador to Lebanon has announced that Russian observers have been sent to Beirut to monitor the parliamentary elections at the request of Lebanese officials.
The Russian embassy in Beirut has revealed that a group of Russian observers has left for Lebanon to observe the May 15 parliamentary elections.
According to Russia Today, an informed source at the Russian embassy in Beirut stated: “We have facilitated the process of certifying the members of this group as observers; The board will consist of four people. “The work of this delegation will continue until the end of the elections, and it is scheduled to visit several polling stations in different constituencies.”
According to this informed source, the acting Lebanese Interior Minister, during a meeting with Moscow Ambassador Alexander Beirut in Beirut, noted that the activities of international observers, including Russian observers, are in Lebanon’s interest. “In addition, he has announced his readiness to assist in the implementation of this project and their mission.”
Rudakov, meanwhile, told the media in early February that Russia was ready to send observers to help hold parliamentary elections if requested by Lebanese officials.
Following two rounds of elections for Lebanese foreigners, parliamentary elections will be held in the country on the 15th of this month to elect 128 representatives, and 103 lists, including 718 candidates, will compete in 15 constituencies.
