Russian diplomat: US ought to take practical steps towards JCPOA.
Russian envoy to international organizations in Vienna, Austria, tweeted urging Washington to take practical action on the issue.
According to a News Agency’s International Group, Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s representative to international organizations, reacted to the US welcome meeting of the Joint Commission in the UN Security Council, in a Twitter message on Thursday evening in Vienna, Austria.
“The US State Department welcomed the virtual meeting of the Joint Commission with the participation of Iran and other members of the nuclear deal,” he wrote in a Twitter message. “This confirms the dramatic change in the position of the United States, which now needs to be transformed into action.”
A State Department spokesman responded to Friday night’s meeting between Joint Commission and the IAEA Board by saying, “Tomorrow’s virtual meeting between Iran, China, France, Germany, Russia and Britain to review the Iran nuclear deal is a ‘positive step,’ especially if “This meeting will move the ball towards mutual commitment.”
The European Union (EU) said in a statement on Thursday evening, a virtual meeting of the Joint Commission would be held on Friday.
According to a statement from the European Union, participants in tomorrow’s meeting will discuss the prospect of a possible US return to the UN Security Council and how to ensure the effective implementation of the agreement by all parties.
