Russian diplomat: The Russian military has never committed crimes against civilians.
Russia’s envoy to the United Nations has said that the Kiev regime is lying about the city of Bucha, and that what is happening there is a fabricated operation by Ukrainians and Westerners.
Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, has denied that residents of Bucha had been subjected to violence before the withdrawal of Russian troops.
“Britain has unilaterally rejected our request for a Security Council meeting on Bucha,” Nebenzia told a news conference at the United Nations on Tuesday morning. “Britain’s presidency of the Security Council is a disgrace and a stain on its history.”
“The Kiev regime is lying about Bucha and trying to provoke us,” he said, according to Sputnik.
“What happened in Bucha is a fictitious operation by the Kiev regime and its Western backers,” the Russian diplomat stressed.
Earlier, Russia’s top investigator ordered an independent investigation into Ukraine’s allegations of killing civilians in the city of Bucha. (More details)
Ukrainian officials say that in addition to Bucha, hundreds of bodies have been found in several other cities near Kiev, linking the killings to Russian forces. However, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the accusations against Russian forces for killing civilians in the Kiev region were untrue.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has also called for an independent inquiry into the incident in the Ukrainian city of Bucha.
