Russia warns Britain: Come closer to Crimea, your blood is ours.
Russia’s national security adviser has warned of a recurrence of the British ship’s unauthorized entry into Crimea, saying similar actions in the future will be met with the harshest of measures by Russia.
Following Britain’s insistence that the destroyer enter the Crimean peninsula legally, the Russian government issued a stern warning.
Russia’s National Security Council deputy Mikhail Popov warned Britain on Wednesday evening that if its warships approached Crimea again, its sailors and crew would be harmed.
On July 2, a British destroyer came under fire after a Russian naval breach in the Black Sea fired a warship warning and bombed a Russian fighter warning.
According to Reuters, Popov warned of remarks by the British prime minister and foreign minister that the destroyer could enter Crimea again, saying London’s behavior and reaction after the incident was “incomprehensible”.
“Similar actions in the future will be met with the most severe methods by Russia, regardless of who the government is on the side of,” he said. “We urge our opponents to think carefully, given the capabilities of the Russian military, that such provocations are worth the risk.”
According to the report, the deputy head of the Russian National Security Council warned: “It is not the British government that is present on the ships and vessels of this country that are used for tense purposes. “I ask Johnson and Robb, what do you say to the family of English sailors whose blood will be on your neck?”
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that NATO was a destabilizing element leading to confrontation, and that repeated actions such as the aggression of the British destroyer would be met with a resounding response.
Since the annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014, after a referendum, Washington and Western and European countries have imposed several rounds of sanctions on Russia under the pretext of escalating tensions in eastern Ukraine, although Moscow has repeatedly denied the allegations.
