Russia’s foreign minister says Moscow is interested in continuing consultations with Israel on security and stability in the Middle East.
In an article published in the Yedioth Akhronut newspaper on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Zionist regime, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed Moscow’s interest in continuing talks and consultations with Israel, Mehr news agency reported quoting Sputnik. He spoke about security and stability in the Middle East.
“We are interested in continuing consultations with our Israeli partners on security and stability issues in the Middle East,” he wrote in the article. “We always draw attention to the fact that comprehensive solutions to the problems in the region must necessarily take into account Israel’s security interests.”
The senior Russian diplomat also stressed that Moscow would find no alternative to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“We strongly support direct talks between Israelis and Palestinians,” Lavrov said. “Only in this way is a comprehensive solution to all issues related to the final situation possible.”
The Russian Foreign Minister praised the continued development of the Russia-Israel dialogue by the Foreign Ministers.
“It is clear that without the constructive interaction of diplomats, it will be impossible to resolve a number of international and regional problems that are important both for securing the prosperous future of the Russian and Israeli peoples and for strengthening regional and international security and stability,” Lavrov wrote. ».
The senior diplomat also praised the various contacts between the Security Councils and the Russian and Israeli defense ministers.
