Russia implicitly accused the US of sabotaging the Nord Stream pipeline.
The representative of Russia in the United Nations at the meeting of the Security Council of this organization accused the United States of sabotaging the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
Vasiliy Nebenzia, Russia’s representative to the United Nations, at Friday’s meeting of the Security Council, implied that the United States was responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines.
According to a Reuters report, Nebenzia stated that the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipeline under the Baltic Sea could have many gains for the US in terms of gas trade.
On Monday of this week, three acts of sabotage caused a leak and stopped the export of Russian gas to Europe through the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines. Experts say that this practically closes Russia’s hand for gas pressure to the European Union by imposing restrictions on gas exports and taking concessions from them because, according to the head of the Russian Gas Association, the repairs of this pipeline will take at least 6 months and will not reach this winter.
The UN Security Council convened on Friday at Russia’s request to investigate the gas leak in these pipelines. Gazprom and Russia’s European partners have spent billions of dollars to build these two gas pipelines.
Nebenzia pointed out in this meeting that one of the main issues regarding the explosions that occurred in Nord Stream 1 and 2 is whether their destruction is beneficial for the United States or not. He then replied: “The answer to this question is yes without a doubt.”
The representative of Russia at the United Nations continued: “The suppliers of liquefied natural gas in the United States should celebrate the multifold increase in LNG sales to Europe.”
