Russia has demanded the withdrawal of foreign troops from Syria.
Criticizing the presence of US forces in Syria without helping to fight terrorism, Russia’s deputy representative to the United Nations said that the Russian Air Force continues to help the Syrian army to destroy ISIS.
Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s deputy representative to the United Nations, said Moscow wanted the immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops stationed in Syria.
“We demand the immediate withdrawal of all foreign troops present in Syria,” Polyansky told a Security Council meeting on Thursday evening. “The United States is clearly not fighting terrorism, either locally or globally.”
According to the RIA Novosti website, the Russian diplomat, meanwhile, stressed that Russia, along with Damascus officials, would not give up its efforts to fight terrorism in Syria.
“Syrian army forces, with the support of the Russian Air Force, will continue to search for and destroy ISIS in Syria, and this will continue,” he concluded.
Earlier, a Russian delegation to the United Nations criticized the United States for supporting Tahrir al-Sham terrorists, stealing Syrian resources and occupying Syrian territory.
On the other hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense recently announced that Russian and Syrian military fighters were jointly patrolling the airspace of the Syrian border, including the Golan Heights.
