Russia condemns terrorist attack on Shiite mosque in Kandahar.
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman on Friday condemned a terrorist attack on a Shiite mosque in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Friday condemned the terrorist attack on a Shiite mosque in Kandahar, Afghanistan, according to the International Group of News Agency.
“We condemn this barbaric terrorist act and hope that those who organized it will be found and severely punished,” he said in a statement.
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman also expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery and called on Taliban officials to take further steps to ensure security throughout the country.
Dozens of Shiites were killed and injured in a terrorist attack on the Fatimid Mosque in the first district of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan on Friday afternoon.
Security sources in Afghanistan announced that 33 people were martyred and 74 others were injured as a result of three consecutive explosions during Friday prayers today (October 14).
Meanwhile, some news sources reported the martyrdom of 41 people in the blast.
Last Friday, 43 people were killed and more than 100 were injured in an explosion at the Kunduz mosque in northern Afghanistan.
ISIL has claimed responsibility for today’s suicide bombing of a Shiite mosque in Kandahar, which the Taliban had previously said was not a threat to Afghanistan.
