The Russian Foreign Ministry stated in its statement that Lavrov told Blinken that Russia’s goals in Ukraine “will be fully realized.”
A senior US State Department official told CNN that the phone call was made at noon on Thursday Washington time and lasted approximately 25 minutes.
Russia ordered a military attack on Ukraine on March 5 (February 24). This development occurred a few days after Moscow officially recognized the independence of the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the goal of his country’s military operations to “demilitarize Ukraine” and “de-Nazify” this country.
