Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Ukrainian passport holders who entered Russia during the recent war to live and work indefinitely in the country.
According to AFP, until now, Ukrainians could only stay in Russia for a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period, and to stay longer or work, they had to obtain a special permit or work permit.
According to the content of this temporary decree, which was published on Saturday, Ukrainian citizens and people of the republics of eastern Ukraine, whose independence Russia has recognized, will be allowed to work in Russia without the requirement to obtain a work permit and live in this country “without time limits”. .
In order to enjoy this facility, applicants must pass fingerprinting, photography, and tests related to drugs and infectious diseases.
Also, according to this decree, the extradition of Ukrainian citizens from Russia is prohibited, with the exception of those who have been released from prison or those who are considered a threat to Russia’s security.
In another decree, the Russian president ordered the establishment of social pensions for vulnerable people, including pensioners, disabled or pregnant women who left Ukraine or the separatist republics in the east of the country because of the war.
According to Russia, 3.6 million Ukrainian citizens, including 587,000 children, have entered Russia since the invasion of Ukraine began in late February.
In July, the Kremlin made it easier for Ukrainians to obtain Russian citizenship, while Kiev condemned the move.
