Riyadh: There is no such thing as “Arab NATO”.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia emphasized that there is no such thing as “Arab NATO” and that Riyadh is not seeking to establish any alliance with the Zionist regime in the region.
Yesterday (Saturday), Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan emphasized on the sidelines of the Jeddah meeting that there is no such thing as “Arab NATO” and there is no talk of creating a regional alliance with the Zionist regime.
According to the report of “Russia Elium” news site, Ben Farhan stated in a press conference: “There is no talk of a regional alliance in the [Persian] Gulf with Israel; If there is such talk, Saudi Arabia will not participate in any dialogue [about it].”
The Saudi Foreign Minister added: “There has never been any kind of military or technical cooperation with Israel; I don’t know where this news came from. Neither during the meeting [in Jeddah] nor before that, such a thing was not raised and was not investigated.”
He emphasized: “There is no such thing as Arab NATO and this is not the issue, but the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia proposed the formation of a common Arab defense system nearly five years ago.”
Bin Farhan noted about the purpose and topic of yesterday’s meeting in Saudi Arabia: “At the Jeddah meeting, which was held with the presence of the heads of the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, and the countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, the issue of partnership with Washington was focused on.”
The Saudi Foreign Minister also said about the tension between Washington and Riyadh: “Our partnership with America is old, stable and continuous.”
Earlier, Ben Farhan said that this country’s action in canceling flight restrictions for the Zionist airlines has nothing to do with relations with this regime.
Although Riyadh officials deny the news based on the creation of a regional coalition against Iran or a partnership with the Zionist regime, US President Joe Biden repeated his accusations against Tehran during a speech at the Jeddah meeting yesterday.
